Formosa

The Daughter and I met a group of women at Formosa Chinese Restaurant for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Neither of us had ever been, though some of our lunch companions had. The exterior is just boring strip mall design, but the interior was attractive:

The Daughter had the vegetable fried rice, and I had the vegetable low mein:

We shared a pot of delicious hot tea. You can see their menu here. To be honest, I prefer a lunch buffet when I eat Chinese, because I'd rather have a wider variety and less of each dish. This was good food, though. Very good.

Yelp gives it 4 out of 5 stars, as does Trip Advisor.

  3. I agree that Chinese buffets are preferable to single dishes, even though I admit the food is always so much hotter when it's prepared to order. Our several Chinese restaurants have gone out of business because there just wasn't enough business to keep them going. It's not going to be easy to find Chinese food in Wichita anymore.

Thanks for sharing these fun looking dishes and your pot of tea with us for T this Tuesday. Hope you saw we are trading ATCs again on July 19. I'm certain you'll want to join in.

  4. That looks pretty good to me although I tend to shy away from Chinese restaurants. Happy T day!

  5. How nice to enjoy a new place with friends and good food.
I have to say I've never seen catsup and mustard on tables at a Chinese Restaurant before.
An example of giving "the people" (Americans LOL) what they like.
    Happy T Day oxo

  6. That looks great - I can't eat chinese food -- although I love it .. there is something in it that makes me always an extreme bloated belly for at least a whole day..I don't know what it is...

  10. It is surprising to me how many strip mall places look so dull outside but can be quite nice inside. Maybe it has to do with building restrictions or something. Your meal looks good. I'm not a fan of buffet food so this would have been just fine with me.
