An Inn in Tokyo

An Inn in Tokyo is a 1936 silent Japanese film directed by Yasujirō Ozu. Much too depressing to suit me. Filled with unrelieved, sad desperation.

DVD Beaver says it's "one of his finest silent works". Wonders in the Dark calls it "Ozu’s least seen masterwork". SilentFilm.com has an interesting article. Senses of Cinema calls it "one of Ozu’s most moving pictures." Time Out describes it as a "touching tale of depression-era travails" and calls it "beautifully achieved". Rotten Tomatoes has an audience rating of 93% but no critics score.
